Luxury & relaxation in the middle of tropical nature

Just a stone’s throw from Singapore, in the heart of the Riau Archipelago, you will find the island of Bintan – a tropical paradise with sun-drenched beaches, crystal clear waters, and forested hills. Close to the island’s capital, Tanjung Pinang, “The Residence Bintan” is an idyllic retreat that combines the rural charm of a traditional Asian village with luxurious modern touches and environmentally friendly hotel concepts. On the picturesque east coast of Bintan, you will find relaxation and seclusion.

Cenizaro Hotels & Resorts is a leading international hotel company with a portfolio of independent luxury hotels in some of the world’s most desirable locations. In addition to hotels in Tunis, Zanzibar, Mauritius and the Maldives, The Residence Bintan, which opened in 2018, is now also part of the Cenizaro family. With great attention to detail, the various hotels reflect the individual personality of each country, contribute to the protection of the environment and support to the local population.

“We want to offer our guests the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the surroundings, the local variety of species and tastes in the gardens, and also the close connection with the local community.” Alexys Tjhia, Director of Corporate Responsibility at The Residence by Cenizaro

Embedded in nature

The 127 light-flooded suites and villas with terrace or pool offer plenty of space for families, friends, and couples. They all combine simplistic, contemporary design with a touch of Indonesian style.

One Bedroom Beachfront Villa

The 125 square meters Beachfront Villas have bedrooms with panoramic sea views, outdoor terraces with infinity pools, king-size beds, sofas, day beds, and large bathrooms with bath and shower.

Thanks to the lush tropical garden, you have a lot of privacy and indulge yourself in relaxation.

The dark, hand-carved wooden furniture and beams are made by local craftsmen.

Those who would like to can enjoy a “floating dinner” in their own villa or have their private butler prepare a picnic basket for an island excursion.

The resort is very spacious, so each villa also has its own bicycle.

Beach

The long beach with the beautiful palm trees is great for beach walks, and at low tide, you can walk far out to sea.

Immerse yourself in peace and quiet

The shimmering infinity pool, with its sea view, offers pure relaxation.

Hospitality with heart

The Dining Room

In the open main restaurant, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed atmosphere with a view of the sea. A selection of western specialties and Asian home cooking is served.

Fruit, vegetables, eggs, and even fish come from the hotel’s own permaculture farm.

Pool Bar

Directly at the pool, you will find refreshing cocktails and delicious snacks in the Pool Bar.

Rica Rica

The architecture in Restaurant Rica Rica is inspired by the traditional fishermen’s huts called “Kelong.” Here, authentic Indonesian dishes are served with ingredients from the region in a wonderfully romantic setting.

Well-being for body, mind, and soul

The Spa

In this beautifully located spa, products from the award-winning British spa brand ilā are used and modern techniques are combined with ancient Ayurvedic and Indonesian traditions.

Inner peace and well-being can be found here, for example, through marma therapy, healing and tapping the meridian, or through chakra and sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls.

Our treatment by professional therapists was relaxing and is highly recommended.

Sustainability

Environmentally friendly hotel concepts conserve natural resources and make a significant contribution to raising the awareness of holidaymakers. The new Earth Basket initiative is part of the Cenizaro Cares programme and supports each resort in transforming an area of the resort into a year-round vegetable garden.

Since the foundation of the “Earth Basket” in December 2019, almost 600 kg of fresh produce has already been harvested. The team also looks after a flock of chickens and ducks that supply fresh eggs. Besides, dwarf coconut trees, Pulai trees, and Singapore cherry trees have been planted. In the hotel’s own spice garden, there are also herbs that guests can use to learn how to prepare Jamu – a traditional Indonesian herbal tonic.

The Earth Basket initiative positively impacts the environment, with the land that has already been cleared and converted into a thriving habitat with increasing species diversity. I some resorts, the indigenous fauna is also thriving and developing into a healthy habitat again.

With the “Soap for Hope” recycling programme (launched by Diversey in 2013), daily soap residues are processed and reused. These soaps will benefit people who have limited or no access to sanitation (1.5 million people so far).

These initiatives are part of the overarching Cenizaro Cares programme, which encompasses all the Group’s resorts and also involves local communities. It is at the core of Cenizaro’s sustainability strategy and underlines its commitment to inspire change for a more sustainable future.

Conclusion

We really enjoyed the relaxing ambiance in this spacious resort nestled in nature’s splendour,  spa treatments, and beautiful pool villas with magnificent sea views. The staff was, as so far everywhere in Indonesia and also at the Cenizaro Hotels, amiable and considerate.
