Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove, Mahe Island, Seychelles – Relaxation & gourmet food with breathtaking ocean views

History & Romance at Beau-Vallon Beach

Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove was the first hotel on Mahé and is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles – the picturesque Beau Vallon Beach. Since its construction in 1943, it has, of course, been renovated and renewed several times.

This boutique hotel has a charm all of its own: it offers unique experiences, has a wonderful seafood restaurant and a great pool right by the ocean. With its traditional thatched roofs and lush tropical gardens, it is stylish yet comfortable at the same time!

From the open lounge you have a spectacular view of the ocean.

Rooms

The 68 rooms and suites all have a terrace or balcony and are decorated in either Creole or contemporary style.

We stayed in a cozy superior double room with an ocean view.

The bathtub is right next to the bed.

The deluxe cottage-style suites are spread out in the garden, have cozy seating areas and great views of the Indian Ocean.

Infinity Pool

It is the only hotel with a pool right on the beach and it is quietly located at the end of the Beau Vallon Bay. From here you can watch the colorful hustle and bustle on the beach and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean with a delicious cocktail in hand.

It is, of course, also nice to mix with the locals on the beach and swim or snorkel in the sea!

Zen Spa

The beautiful spa has two double massage rooms with outdoor showers, a gym, a steam bath and a plunge pool. The spa not only offers great massages such as Aromatherapy, Balinese, Swedish, Indian Head Massage, Back, Neck and Scalp Massage, Touch for Two and a Honeymoon Package (Honeymooners Celebration / 120 min), but one can even learn a few basic massage techniques  that you can then test on your partner at home (Massage Discovery)!

Spa Menu

Honeymoon & Wedding

The hotel has great honeymoon offers and also special packages for those dreaming of a wedding in the Seychelles. The wedding ceremony can take place in the hotel lobby, on the pontoon bridge with gazebo or on the beach.

Bars

Le Cocoloba Bar

Light snacks and tropical cocktails are served in this cozy island-style designed bar with ocean views. Right next door there is a small library.

Sunset Bar

You can enjoy afternoon tea with pastries, an aperitif before dinner or a romantic dinner above the ocean in this stylish bar with its cozy hanging chairs, a pontoon bridge that extends into the ocean and a thatched gazebo.

Restaurants

Restaurant Le Bourgeois (Restaurant-Website)

The à la carte seafood restaurant not only offers excellent service, divine Creole cuisine merged with French sophistication, but also a beautiful view of the ocean and the Beau Vallon Bay!

Le Bourgeois Menu

Since we first time came to the Seychelles, we both love Red Snapper! So, of course we had to try it here!

Stuffed Red Snapper
Ricotta-dill filling, grilled vegetable timbale, tomato-shellfish foam, green oil (SCR 315 – about 22 EUR)

And it was the best Red Snapper we have ever had! Really magical – so tender – incredible!

Homemade Caramel Ice-Cream
Peanuts, Popcorn & Chocolate sauce (SCR 160 – approximately 11 EUR)

The design with its cozy rock walls, warm colors and great details is tasteful and romantic! Dinner at this restaurant is definitely not to be missed!

Restaurant Le Cardinal

The main restaurant offers breakfast with an ocean view and for dinner delicious Creole cuisine with themed buffets and live music.

As you can see, we visited the Seychelles in January during the rainy season. However, it mostly rained only briefly in the morning or at night, otherwise there was only radiant sunshine and it was nice and not overcrowded anywhere!

Activities

Snorkeling Trail „UNLOCK THE SEA“
Go on a guided snorkeling tour with marine experts from the Marine Conservation Society Seychelles or explore the underwater world on the snorkeling route recommended by the hotel on your own and also learn more about marine conservation. (more info)

© Le Meridien Fisherman´s Cove

Guided snorkeling tours are offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9:30 and 10:30 and between 14:30 and 15:30.

Underwater mailbox
Mail your postcards in a different way – from our unique post box under the sea which is emptied every two days.

Beach walk | Stroll along the endless beach and support the locals at their small souvenir shops by buying souvenirs for example, vanilla pods. Tennis, Boule | There is also a tennis court and a boule area. Shopping | Victoria is only 10 minutes by taxi.

We also got to meet the friendly general manager Romain Chanet. Previously, he was the general manager of Le Meridien Ile des Pins – “Definitely also worth a visit!”

Conclusion

The hotel is a nice size and the rooms and suites set in the tropical gardens are cozy and romantic. The highlights are the infinity pool and the fish restaurant! Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie & Eden Rock Spa, La Digue, Seychelles

Your home away from home

Yes, it is quite obvious that we are particularly fond of this hotel with its very tasteful design, the romantic tree houses, and its caring staff. After we had our dream wedding on the Anse Source d’Argent beach in 2012, we also celebrated our third anniversary here in 2015 and now, for the third time, we are once again visiting this wonderful and romantic boutique hotel on La Digue.

The crossing from Mahé takes about one hour by ferry. You can go directly with the Cat Cocos from Mahé to La Digue or you can stopover on Praslin and then continue with the Inter Island Ferry. This way the departure times are much more flexible! You can easily book the ferry tickets here. We definitely recommend the Upper Outside Deck – it’s airy, sunny and you will not get seasick in the back rows!

Many bridal couples, to whom I always recommend the Seychelles as a wonderful honeymoon destination, often ask if there is a lot to do. And the answer is, yes, most definitely!! We have been there three times and have just seen 5 of the 115 islands.

We are especially fond of La Digue – it just has a really relaxed flair! You quite simply cycle to the beach, lean your bicycle against a tree, without a lock, and enjoy the day at the beach! This is paradise!

Well, all right… this time our bicycle was no longer there one evening, but this is the exception in the otherwise safe paradise! And the return trip that came about in the loading area of a pickup truck was extremely cool!

Our “second home” in the Seychelles has expanded and changed somewhat since 2012, but it’s still gorgeous and there is something new to discover every time.

It is always great to see the staff again, even though our last visit has been over a year ago. And it is exactly these sincere and cheerful employees who make this hotel such a special place.

After being picked up with a golf cart at the jetty and greeted with a deep ceremonial gong, we were welcomed with delicious iced tea and warm smiles. Then it is simply a case of relax and enjoy. You are in paradise now and can forget about the hectic pace of everyday life!

The lobby with the Safran Boutique is brand new and very tastefully designed.

Infinity Pool

The pool with its poolside bar and beautiful ocean and sunset views is perfect for spending a relaxing day with cocktails and a good read.

The sunbeds are so comfortable!

Beach

The hotel’s own small private beach area has just been completely redesigned! It is not perfect for swimming and snorkeling, but great for sunbathing and relaxing! Plans for another bar that will be situated right on the beach are also well underway.

The Floating Dinner concept is brand new! What could be more romantic than dinner for two floating in the ocean? The platform is easily moved to the beach for ascent and for every course of dinner and then simply slowly floats out to sea again. This is unique in the Seychelles!

Villa de Charme

We fell in love with the Villa De Charme, the beautiful and romantic tree house built into the hillside, a few years ago! These villas are just so very romantic and unique! You even have beautiful ocean views from some of the villas, sometimes even from the bathtub!

The way to the upper villas definitely is easier down, than up! But you can also opt to be driven to your villa with one of the nimble golf carts at any time.

We loved everything about this villa! The design is timeless, cozy and absolutely tasteful!

A special highlight is the beautiful open bathroom with rain shower and bathtub.

Our tip for some romantic moments together: The In Villa Tchaba Bath that can be ordered at the spa.

Treat yourself with a wonderful bath experience in the privacy of your villa.
Our therapist are happy to create a most sensual and blissful experience.
A sensual mix will leave your skin radiant, soft and velvety.

In addition, the Villa de Charme Elegance also has a jacuzzi on the terrace. We stayed in one of the chic Garden Villas on our last visit (Review >>). The Presidential Villa, situated almost on top of the mountain, has several rooms and a private pool!

Eden Rock Spa

This exceptional spa was built right on and into the granite rocks. The view from the open treatment rooms is just spectacular!

And the treatments on offer by the very kind therapists are diverse and professional! Definitely not to be missed! (Spa Menu)

We were able to enjoy a wonderful Aromatherapy massage. It was amazing and wonderfully relaxing! The ambiance is simply magical!

The spa also has a steam bath and a jacuzzi.

Restaurants & Bars

Santosha Restaurant

The Santosha restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. Creole and international cuisine is served.

The half-open restaurant with its outdoor terrace and the great ocean view is really cozy!

The various themed buffets, the Catch of the Day and the live cooking stations offer variety and such delicious food.

Unfortunately, more and more sand has disappeared from the restaurant since 2012. Today sand is only found in the last third of the restaurant. Such a pity, as we always enjoyed being able to eat with our feet in the sand. But then again, many women still find high heels important, even when in paradise!

Le Combava Restaurant

This romantic restaurant by the pool offers some of the finest á la carte dishes! Perfect for a special occasion!

Pool Bar

At the pool bar, you can also sit in the pool. Or you can enjoy the view or watch the sunset from the cozy seats on the terrace. The pool bar serves delicious cocktails or snacks all day long.

Alambic Bar

After sunset, you can let another day in paradise come to an end with a cocktail or a glass of wine in hand.

Honeymoon & Wedding

If you would like to get married at the famous Anse Source d’Argent beach in the Seychelles, you can spend your perfect wedding day and honeymoon in this hotel. There are various areas that are just perfect for romantic candlelight dinners and they always have a great Honeymoon Special to entice you.

Honeymoon Special
+  1 bottle of champagne and a fruit platter

from 5 nights:
+ 1x 30-minute manicure or pedicure for the bride
+ 1 romantic candlelight dinner for two in the a la carte Combava Restaurant consisting of a 3-course dinner, drinks not included.

Wedding Special
As mentioned above plus a 60-minute spa treatment per person/stay (from 5 nights)

This time we also accompanied another couple to their wedding day on the beach. The scenery with the huge granite rocks is simply incomparably beautiful and unique!

More pictures and the video of this beautiful wedding can be found here.

Conclusion

Ever since we got married here, we have lost our hearts to this hotel! It quite simply is very special! It radiates so much warmth and tranquility. One feels right at home here! We will certainly visit it more often! In our opinion, it is the most beautiful hotel on La Digue, if not in the Seychelles! And the bridal couple that we have just accompanied here absolutely shares our opinion! To them, their wedding in paradise was just as perfect, as ours was to us!
